IBM Helps Spark TECEC’s Commitment to Early Care and Education
The Texas Early Childhood Education Coalition is excited to announce a generous grant donation by the IBM Corporation to assist in the development of the Texas Early Childhood Education Coalition. The gift of two new laptop computers, a desktop computer and printer will enable Coalition staff to work closely with advocates across the state to ensure quality care and early education for Texas children.
The new opportunities provided by technology allow organizations and individuals to mobilize in dynamic and innovative ways. With the computer infrastructure provided by IBM, we will be able to virtually link grassroots advocates across the state to enrich dialogue and discussion. Through regular updates on the Coalition’s web site, electronic newsletter and electronic listserv, members and the public can stay informed on the issues as well as collaborate activities with others throughout Texas. The addition of these electronic resources will strengthen the Coalition and bring our message to a much broader audience.
With the gift of portable laptops, the Coalition will also be able to take equipment on the road for presentations and training. In the coming months, we will be meeting with stakeholders, organizing events and providing informational sessions for the public to build consensus on securing our children’s future. We anticipate that the opportunity to add a multi-media element to these presentations will prove invaluable.
The Texas Early Childhood Education Coalition and IBM share a commitment to providing for children’s development from pre-k through the public education system. IBM offers parents and teachers a user-friendly Kidsmart Guide to Early Learning and Technology to use at home and at school. It is through the contributions of supporters like IBM that the Coalition will be able to build new relationships between stakeholders and children’s programs, help coordinate policies to provide superior care and work to make sure that services are provided in the most efficient manner possible.
