September-Grandparents Day!Sunday, September 10th is National Grandparents Day 2006! This is a great time to learn about the role of grandparents and extended families in early childhood education and development in Texas. After browsing information about the trends in kinship care in recent years, take time to connect with resources that will aid any relative in raising children. In celebration of this population, thank or honor valued grandparents and kinship caregivers in your community. Form collaborations to show that their efforts are appreciated, that sources of assistance are readily available, and that grandparents and other kin have a vital role to play in ensuring quality early childhood education and development experiences for Texas children. By working together, extended families, early care and education providers, and communities at large can prepare our youngest children to be successful throughout their lives.
