Year of the Parent

2008 is the “Year of the Parent!” Parents are and always will be a child’s first and most important teacher. In addition, parents are the best advocates for their children. As a result, TECEC will travel to multiple communities throughout the state in early 2008 in order to recruit parents to advocate on behalf of our youngest Texans.

Following our tour across the state, TECEC will bring parents to Austin for an in depth training related to legislative visits, committee hearings, and the legislative process. Each parent will be asked to recruit as least one parent to bring along for the training. Come 2009, Texas legislators will be able to hear directly from parents on the importance of child care, Head Start, and public school pre-k programs for children ages birth to five.
