TECEC
Texas Early Childhood Education Coalition

The Texas Early Childhood Education Coalition was formed in 2003 to build a system of quality early development and education that prepares children in Texas for success in their education and life. Our statewide, broad-based Coalition brings ONE strong voice to the Capitol on issues affecting early care and education. Over the past seven years, TECEC has worked with its members and partners to secure more than $125 million in child care, Head Start and pre-k investments through four key work areas: research, public policy, public awareness, and community organizing. Today TECEC represents nearly 6,000 early childhood development and education stakeholders from every region in Texas, and is proud to partner with world-renowned entities such the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy at Rice University and the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University. In addition, TECEC has two statewide work groups, the Child Care Subsidies Work Group and the Texas Home Visitation Coalition , which are working to implement policies on behalf of the children and families of Texas.

Exciting things are happening at the local, state, and national levels in early childhood development and education, and support for these issues among business leaders and policymakers has never been greater. Please review TECEC’s Guiding Principles and the 10-year public policy agenda that guides our work, The Texas Plan .
